Precinct number pattern change
In late 2025, the Lieutenant Governor’s office standardized all precinct numbers across the state of Utah. Everyone’s precinct number in Utah County has changed. Let’s break down the new number format. For example:25AF01
- The
25represents Utah County because it is the 25th county in the state in alphabetical order. - The
AFrepresents a city in that county. In this case, American Fork. - The
01is the new precinct number within that city. Most of these numbers have changed since 2024, so your old precinct number is different.
Precinct boundary changes
Along with these late 2025 precinct number changes, some precinct boundaries have also changed. In the best cases, the county clerk’s office has attempted to better connect parts of neighborhoods that were previously isolated geographically. Maps: You can search for your precinct or view all precinct boundaries on this interactive county map. To the best of our knowledge, it is updated with the new boundaries. The county clerk also has static maps and other tools. In Utah County, you can populate new county precinct maps quickly by using the following url format template and replacing the25AF01 with your own precinct number using the same format.
This only works for individual “county precincts” (see below).
Combined “Party Precincts”
The precinct numbers explained above are for “county precincts” in Utah County, which is the individual precinct you live in. In many cases, it makes sense to combine small precincts when they don’t have enough Republican-affiliated residents to earn their own county or state delegates. In these cases, House District leadership and UCRP leadership collaborate to decide which precincts will be combined. Combined precincts are designated as “Party Precincts”. The first purpose is to designate who will meet together for Caucus, and where. These combined precincts will then elect officers and delegates and work together as one precinct over the next 2 years, at least. Typically, one of the precinct numbers is designated as the main precinct, and the others are added to it. For example,25CH06 was combined with 25AF02, 25PG02, and 25NE07.
In this case, 25CH06 remains the main precinct because it has the most Republican-affiliated voters. Since 3 county precincts are being added to it, it now takes on the party precinct name 25CH06-3. This formatting is distinct from some other counties, such as Salt Lake County.
